About
TheContest
The Bamboo Playground Design Contest invites architects, designers, and creative minds to submit innovative proposals for a sustainable and visually-captivating playground for children, exclusively constructed using bamboo. The aim of this contest is to explore the versatility of bamboo as a construction material, showcasing its potential for sustainable, aesthetically pleasing, and functional designs.
Our objective is to unleash the full potential of bamboo, not merely as a construction material, but as a symbol of sustainability, innovation, and the boundless imagination that shapes a child's world.
We challenge you to redefine the limits of eco-friendly design. In a world clamoring for sustainable solutions, your task is to harness the strength, flexibility, and inherent beauty of bamboo to create a space where children can play, learn, and connect with nature. The Bamboo Playground should stand as a testament to the harmony achievable between the built environment and the natural world
Unique Prize
Construction of the proposal for the Bamboo Playground and Free 11 Day Build & Design Course in August 2024.
(Includes flight and accommodation for the July 2024 course for 1 representative of the team. Up to 2 other team members are eligible to receive the July course for free, but will be responsible for their own flights to and from Bali. The prize is strictly not transferrable to another month or year.)
Honorary Mention
The jury may agree to mention as many projects as it deems worthy of such a distinction. The winning team must follow up on the development of the work, provide the plans of the executive project for the construction of Bamboo playground, and follow up on its construction through the channels agreed with the Bamboo U team after the announcement of the winning team.

Inspirations
Recognizing bamboo's susceptibility to deterioration from sun and rain exposure, a key consideration is the incorporation of a protective roof structure.
This roof can be crafted from bamboo, seamlessly blending with the overall design aesthetics, or alternatively, a sizable waterproof tent may be integrated to shield the entire area.
